Flick Review: Train to Busan

Hello minions!

I know what you’re probably thinking… two blog posts in one week!?  Is she sick!?  Is she dying!?  Alas the answer is no… I’m just incredibly bored and have a wealth of time.  And to take advantage of that time to my best abilities, I decided to take a break from watching Chinese Drama Boss and Me interspersed with Harry Potter fanvids to update you on a recent film I watched called Train to Busan!  Beware… spoilers ahead!

Thoughts on W: Two Worlds

Hello everyone!  I know it’s been a ridiculously long time since I last wrote… What’s new, am I right?  I could give you my typical excuses or I could just accept the inevitable, I am incredibly lazy and spectacular at putting things off.

However… one plus of my radio silence is that I have a looooot of things I want to talk about.  The list goes on and on in terms of what I’ve been watching over the past couple of months, but the MOST PRESSING is… unsurprisingly… the drama that has already sparked so much conversation – W: Two Worlds.

Reply 1988 – Taek and Deok Sun

Hello everyone!  And Happy New Year!  I know it’s nearly February already but as per usual I’ve been busy with life and all the messy intricacies that come along with it, so I haven’t gotten around to writing anything.  But last night I (finally) finished the ridiculously long drama Reply 1988, so I decided to churn out a quick post about it – and specifically about the adorable OTP of Taek and Deok Sun.  If you haven’t noticed from the title, this will be spoiler heavy!

Kamisama No Iu Toori Review || As The God’s Will

It’s officially been… three years since my last blog post on this website.  For a time last year I was attempting to write a personal blog that detailed my life abroad in Japan (which you can find here, though again… check out my puny three posts… I’m so bad at commitment).  However, as I have just left Japan, and am now facing the abysmal dark hole of unemployment, I have been attempting to get in as many dramas/films as I possibly can and decided I might as well try and write a couple reviews.

So, without further ado, I give you my first review in three years.  I decided to dedicate it to a recent Japanese film I saw called As the Gods Will or Kami-sama no Iu Toori.  Apparently the film is based off a popular manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Akeji Fujimura, but I’ve never read it and truthfully hadn’t even heard of it until the films promos started going viral.

Yeah… those are dead bodies… prepare for the gore

What I’m Watching!!!

Hi guys!

So I promised to try and post more regularly… and I’m kind of doing it! Sort of!  I’m currently swamped with work and interviews and life in general, so this is going to be a short catch-up post about what I’m watching right now.

First of all, possibly one of my new favorite dramas ever, the most amazing Flower Boy Next Door.

The Awesomeness of the Female Characters in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

I realize that this is a departure from my usual *Asian male centric* posts, but I couldn’t help it, sorry guys!  I promise to come at you with more of my normal posts soon!

Can we just pause and appreciate how awesome the female characters in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are?  I realize this is an old film, and many points like this may have been brought up already, but as I’m now rewatching (for probably about the 60th time) this film, I just have to talk about the female characters and how awesome they are.  In a shockingly large amount of romantic films, comedic films, hell films in general, women are portrayed as one dimensional, love-struck idiots who are ‘completed’ by their male counterparts and have nothing better to do than search for love.  This film is an ‘indie’ romance film.  Obviously, romance is centric.  However, depicted within this romance, there is a depth to the female characters that is shockingly unique compared to most films nowadays.

First, you get the main female Clementine, played by the amazing Kate Winslet.

Stayin’ Alive

Hi guys!

I know it’s been absolutely ages since I last posted anything, but I AM STILL HERE!!  It’s really been crazy these past few weeks with my dissertation and life in general, so I’ve literally had no time to spare for blogging.  After this week it should get a little better for me, and I promise to blog more over Christmas (because I will FINALLY have time).  Also next semester I think I’ll have more time, because my module load is way less, so be prepared for awesome blogposts from me at a much more regular pace!

So, I can’t write a long post, but just in case you guys are searching out dramas at the moment, I’ll let you know what I’m currently watching!

First and foremost, the AMAZING Jdrama Piece

KSquish’s Favorite Kactors: Male Edition

K Actors Post

Time for… My Favorite K Actors!!!! Male Edition.  So, like my fave J-actors post, this will lean heavily towards the young and pretty.  That’s just the type of shows I watch *sorry if you’re interested in something more mature*.  Again, this list is in no particular order.

Joo Won

ImageThis man is just all kinds of pretty.  I’m glad he’s beginning to get popular through Gaksital, though I’m happy to say I’ve been his fan for a while.  He’s what kept Ojakyo Brothers interesting.  The man manages to emote like none other.  His crying makes other people cry, which is a very valuable skill as an actor.  I’ve only watched one episode of Gaksital so far, but I was seriously impressed by him.  I’m really looking forward to seeing more of him as a leading man to others.

See More after the Break!

PSY Gangnam Style

Ok, so I really wasn’t planning on doing two posts today, but I just can’t NOT share the epicness that is PSY’s new mv, Gangnam Style.  The music video is freaking hilarious, and it’s got awesome cameos from Hyunah, Yoo Jae Seok, and Noh Hong Chul.  Watch if you’re in the mood to laugh and bop along to a great beat!

It’s really great to see PSY back after two years.  I missed him.  His last song Right Now had me dancing in the street on my way to classes for months, and I have a feeling this will be my new crack song!
